Job Description

The Projects Coordinator will report to the Project Manager and Executive Director. Working closely with the staff team and community partners, the Projects Coordinator will oversee the execution of our various projects, including: the 6th annual Queen West Art Crawl, Community Forums, Beautification Initiatives and public events during the summer and holiday seasons. The Projects Coordinator will have opportunities to take the lead on a specific project or event as well as be a key team member for all of our projects.

Responsibilities

• Help plan, implement and evaluate special events, festivals and meetings, including marketing and community outreach;
• Write, design and layout print materials including advertising, posters, brochures, newsletters;
• Seek out and respond to media opportunities;
• Develop opportunities for revenue generating activities;
• Facilitate workshops and presentations to community organizations;
• Monitor, support and generate website content;
• Work collaboratively with staff, board of directors, committees, partnering organizations and volunteers;
• Assist with volunteer recruitment and management;
• Plan, develop, manage and update databases and contact lists;
• Contribute to grant writing and related research;
• Other duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications

• Experience in communications, marketing and special event planning;
• Experience in developing marketing and communications strategies;
• Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills;
• Fundraising and sponsorship-seeking experience an asset;
• Excellent skills in developing and enhancing relationships with partners, volunteers, funders;
• Ability to create accountability reports to stakeholders;
• Comfortable working in a Windows environment;
• Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and some evenings;
• Passion to contribute in the not-for-profit sector is a must.

Job Description

The Website Developer / Graphics Designer will report to the Executive Director. Working closely with the staff team and community partners, the Website Developer / Graphics Designer will primarily oversee various areas in maintaining the organizations two websites: www.parkdaleliberty.com and www.queenwestartcrawl.com
Secondary responsibilities to include fulfilling the organization’s marketing and promotional goals.


Primary Responsibilities

• Maintain PLEDC websites: www.parkdaleliberty.com and www.queenwestartcrawl.com
• Monitor and regularly update the website’s active content features, such as events calendar, job postings, and others.
• Maintain administrative back-end that enables staff to contribute website content.
• Create new pages and sections as needed, including graphic elements.
• Manage relations with web hosting service provider.

Secondary Responsibilities

• Produce print-ready promotional material for PLEDC events and projects
• Work with staff to develop marketing strategy for events and projects using print and web
• Participate in and contribute to event and project planning sessions.
• Other duties as assigned.

Required Experience and Education:

• A degree or diploma in web/multi-media/graphic design, design-related field and/or equivalent experience
• Candidates will be expected to provide a portfolio of work and sample URLs as well as being able to prove what their role was in the project

Required Skills:

• Knowledge of and experience with content management systems
• Comfortable working in Windows environment.
• Extensive knowledge of HTML and Cascading Style Sheets (ability to hand-code a must).
• Knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures to produce and maintain a multi-page web site.
• Ability to plan and design web layout/navigation based on understanding of online user experience.
• Proficiency in PHP an asset.
• Proficiency in graphics programs and knowledge of pre-press procedures and requirements and print layout programs such as Photoshop, Illustrator and QuarkXpress.
• Intermediate knowledge and the ability to edit existing JavaScript, XML, PHP code, MySQL and PHPMyAdmin.
• Excellent organization, communication, statistical interpretation and strong analytical skills.
• Ability to meet tight deadlines is essential to keep up in our fast-paced environment.
• Ability to multi-task and work independently.
• Experience in the not-for-profit sector would be helpful.

Job Description
The Design Supervisor will report to the Executive Director. Working closely with the staff team and local businesses, the Design Supervisor will primarily oversee three team members in the implementation of Operation Storefront, which will include the renovation of twenty storefronts over a twenty week period.
Primary Responsibilities
• Take the lead in identifying potential sites for renovation
• Liaise with business owners who choose to participate in the program
• Determine the needs and wants of the business owners so as to develop a design scheme that will accurately address the needs of their business
• Create design plans that can be presented to business owners for final approval, at which point materials will be sourced and a budget developed
• Create a schedule and supervise in implementation of the renovation as carried out by the Creative Labourers
• Produce a summary report of each project, identifying strengths and weaknesses for future reference
Secondary Responsibilities
• Participate in the proposed Parkdale Beautification Committee
• Contribute to the media, advertising, and outreach component of the PLEDC’s Beautification program
Required Experience and Education:
• Graduate of an accredited design program or equivalent experience
• Experience with retail design / client service
• Candidates will be expected to provide a portfolio of work as well as being able to prove what their role was in the project

The Creative Labourer will report to the Design Supervisor. Working closely with the staff team and local businesses, the Creative Labourer will be responsible for the implementation of Operation Storefront, which will include the renovation of twenty storefronts over a twenty week period.

• Will be responsible for implementing the designs of the Design Supervisor
• Plan for and problem solve issues relating to successful application of materials and repurposing existing materials, signage and structures
• Will be responsible for carrying out and completing renovation projects

• Experience working in the building trade, or related sector
• Experience in carpentry, painting, and fabrication in a variety of materials


Required Skills:
• Strong carpentry skills including woodwork, painting, and finishing work
• Ability to meet tight deadlines and thrive in a fast paced environment.
• Ability to multi-task and work independently.
• Passion to contribute in the not-for-profit sector is a must.
