Job Description
The Website Developer / Graphics Designer will report to the Executive Director. Working closely with the staff team and community partners, the Website Developer / Graphics Designer will primarily oversee various areas in maintaining the organizations two websites: www.parkdaleliberty.com and www.queenwestartcrawl.com
Secondary responsibilities to include fulfilling the organizations marketing and promotional goals.
Primary Responsibilities
Maintain PLEDC websites: www.parkdaleliberty.com and www.queenwestartcrawl.com
Monitor and regularly update the websites active content features, such as events calendar, job postings, and others.
Maintain administrative back-end that enables staff to contribute website content.
Create new pages and sections as needed, including graphic elements.
Manage relations with web hosting service provider.
Secondary Responsibilities
Produce print-ready promotional material for PLEDC events and projects
Work with staff to develop marketing strategy for events and projects using print and web
Participate in and contribute to event and project planning sessions.
Other duties as assigned.
Required Experience and Education:
A degree or diploma in web/multi-media/graphic design, design-related field and/or equivalent experience
Candidates will be expected to provide a portfolio of work and sample URLs as well as being able to prove what their role was in the project
Required Skills:
Knowledge of and experience with content management systems
Comfortable working in Windows environment.
Extensive knowledge of HTML and Cascading Style Sheets (ability to hand-code a must).
Knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures to produce and maintain a multi-page web site.
Ability to plan and design web layout/navigation based on understanding of online user experience.
Proficiency in PHP an asset.
Proficiency in graphics programs and knowledge of pre-press procedures and requirements and print layout programs such as Photoshop, Illustrator and QuarkXpress.
Intermediate knowledge and the ability to edit existing JavaScript, XML, PHP code, MySQL and PHPMyAdmin.
Excellent organization, communication, statistical interpretation and strong analytical skills.
Ability to meet tight deadlines is essential to keep up in our fast-paced environment.
Ability to multi-task and work independently.
Experience in the not-for-profit sector would be helpful.
