Artist Statement: Urban decay and demolition by neglect is present in all urban settings. All buildings have a story, a history, a life, and a death. Industrial factories rust. Office buildings slowly crumble. Residential buildings are reclaimed by the elements. It is a rarity that these building evolutions witnessed by those outside their walls. I go where many have gone in the past, but few go today. To explore, embrace, and bring sight to these spaces and environments from which others avert their gaze.
Even with man-made objects, death is a part of life and has its own beauty.

Artist Statement: Buchanan paints scenes captured in manipulated photographs, with the distortions particular to the medium–saturation, slow shutter speeds, blurring – intensified in the oil paintings. Places, so familiar to us, become strangely dissonant. Deliberate confusions of perspective distracts the eye in its habitual search for focus and illusionism becomes a paradox executed in vibrant jewel-like neon tones and impenetrable shadows. The failure of painting to capture technology in transit becomes its power: Buchanan’s work shows the potential for creativity and manipulation within the arid hypermodern landscape.

Artist Statement: My art is a combination of my photographs and painting on wood panel. I use paint to extend the mood and life of the images. Organic beauty in nature inspires me. Birch forests, ferns, water, clouds and rolling fields all influence my art. I am attracted to images that draw you in to become a part of the scene. My art asks the viewer to look up in the trees or down to the ground and feel the texture of the surroundings.
Artist Statement: Few images hold me like the expressions of young children. Captured before they have learned to 'pose' for the camera, young children are striking for their innocence, their look of awe, their intense curiosity and spirit of play. To many eyes, their expressions are more than beautiful. To me, in a tumultuous time in our world, they are refreshing, grounding and can sharply remind us of what is important.

I graduated from Sheridan college in illustration, am represented by Three in a Box, and work full time as a graphic artist for Walmart Canada. I have been actively freelancing and since 2004. I have also had a piece purchased by the Ontario government that is now in the Provincial Collection.
Artist Statement: Claire Manning is an illustrator based out of Toronto, Canada. A graduate of the Sheridan College illustration program, she spends her time observing and investigating the world for interesting and cute ways to convey her vision. Her style can be described as whimsical, fun, and always full of life. In addition to her freelance career she is also active in the Toronto gallery scene. She finds total joy in her profession and will be with paintbrush in hand until she's old and grey.
Artist Statement: I am a classically-trained, full-time artist with more than 20 years of experience. My work focuses on hand-drawn fine art, comic art and illustration. My current series of paintings combine my imaginative and classical sight skills to create surreal landscapes that reflect the natural world and the growth capable within it. The engaging anthropomorphic forms depicted within these landscapes are living entities, each with its own rhythm. Each piece begins with a hand-drawn illustration in pencil on paper that is then transferred to board and painted using gouache.
