Recent Exhibitions, Work AND Education: Recently I have been participating in the printmaking collaboration Rabbit or Fish with another artist; and together we did the Sunnyside Beach Juried Art Show in May. I have been a part of Guelph Art-On-The-Street for the past 4 years, and will be in the show this July. Last fall I took the course, ‘Bridge the Gap: Professional Development for Emerging Artists’ at the Ontario College of Art and Design. I graduated from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design in 2006 with a BFA. My work has been shown in Toronto, Guelph, Elora, London, Hamilton, Halifax and Maine.
Artist Statement: The pieces seen in this collection are those with experimental contour lines, shapes, and patterns representing urban landscapes. The work continues to reflect the sprawling growth in cites right up to shorelines. The over-grown residential communities, as well as retail centers are seen as developed areas that continue to flood cities and eliminate farmland. The prints demonstrate the use of bold lines and patterns designed to represent the clusters of buildings and mazes of roadways. Aerial views of dense and chaotic spaces along with topographical maps are used as inspiration to draw from.

Artist Statement: In Kenya, the word “msungu” means “white man,” but has come to describe all foreigners. It is a comment on the Western gaze and their presence in Africa.
MSUNGU is a documentation of a journey that I have taken to Kenya. We have been disseminated with a false imagery of what Africa represents. My motivation was to see the land and the people for myself.
This is merely glimpse of the land and its people, which I hope remains dignified, and avoids the sensationalized view of the continent.
Recent Exhibitions, Work AND Education: I am a graduate of the Ontario College of Art 1984 and have recently returned for the degree completion program.I have been painting for over 20 years in Toronto and abroad. I have participated in the Queen West crawl for the past two years as well as other shows in Toronto. My work is predominately animals-a love I share with my children but I also find inspiration in simple subjects such as flowers and landscapes. I teach painting classes for children and adults and I paint everyday.
Artist Statement: "Paint as you would dance or sing" Robert Henri.
I paint animals such as pigs, cows, sheep and chickens for the pure joy they bring. I use rich simple brushstrokes and vibrant colors- revealing the simplicity of the subject and to evoke compassion from my viewer- maybe even a connection to the subject. My landscape are from memories of my own travels but these are shared by others. Even a simple vase of flowers can bring joy. Everyday moments are the moments of our greatest wisdom.

Artist Statement: The series "This Time We're Gonna Make It" is a realist, painterly articulation of images taken from vinyl record covers found in second hand stores. The titles for these works are taken from the text on the jackets. What strikes me about the images I find and paint is their grand scale. They are cultural and historical panoramas produced by technologies that are now historical themselves. They are lush, large, fantastical stagings of landscapes and human interactions. They speak of a specific time and mindset in Western culture. What is revealed by these images is a culture awash with an awareness of magnificence and strength, geographical grandeur and intimate pleasure.
Recent Exhibitions, Work AND Education: During the last few years I have participated in a variety craft and artisan shows, large and small, throughout Toronto including: the Bazaar of the Bizarre, The Portobello Market and the Elle Canada Spring show at the Carlu. I'm a trained floral designer, a leather worker, and while my jewelry skills are mostly self taught, I have learned a great deal from my father who is a craftsman in many mediums. Currently my work is for sale at Fresh Baked Goods, Wise Daughter's Craft Market and on-line.
Artist Statement: Kat has always been deeply aware of the balance and beauty of the world around her. Through her work, she loves to marry the natural with the mechanical, drawing unexpected beauty from the mundane.
With her vivid imagination, she sees a story in everything and seeks to unveil the magic in all she touches. Her current collection features a wide variety of salvaged treasures accented with premium quality, traditionally pressed, antiqued and silver plated brass.

I have worked, lived, been educated in an urban setting and all these influences have come out on my drawn page where I like to capture slices of Toronto life, most notably, indie cafe life, where snippets of conversation and life drama can be heard and observed.
Artist Statement: I was born and raised in Toronto. It wasn't until recently that all of my schooling in art, graphic design and landscape architecture came together in my drawings of Toronto urban scenes.
What some people may find mundane and pass without a second glance, I find beautiful. Drawing is my way to interact with the world and I find that by looking at a place and spending a few hours drawing it, I gain a deeper memory of that environment.
