Recent Exhibitions, Work AND Education: By 1992, after finishing a fine arts degree in University of Montreal, I decided to study at OCAD in the Textile Printing Program. In Toronto, I discovered that being half Swiss, half Egyptian, francophone and newly bilingual, was the perfect way to blend into this amazingly multicultural city. After graduation, and three years at the Harbourfront Craft Studios, I opened my own silk-screen printing studio in the Queen West District. Since then, I’ve been producing printed textiles that I distribute through shows including the One of a Kind Shows, the Queen West Art Crawl and the Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition.
Artist Statement: Toronto inspires me!
In 2008, the AGO commissioned five artists nationally to design a t-shirt for the re- opening of the gallery. The shirt I designed was so well-received that last fall I was asked to design their new AGO shirt.
My silkscreen printed shirts fuse images from photos I have taken of Toronto (buildings, trees, people…) with poetic text. Every piece is unique – a collage of different images assembled together. Silkscreen is not a production tool to me, but a creative device. This fall, I would like to focus on prints of my neighbourhood, where the QWAC takes place.

Artist Statement: I am passionate about the mystery of colour and its ability to influence feelings. I paint a variety of subjects but in my recent work I have been using the shape of musical instruments as a starting point. This subject matter has allowed me to explore my love of colour and create drama and mood in my paintings. The series is now evolving as I include the human figure and other imagery within the musical series.

RELEVANT EDUCATION
Honours BFA, Queen’s University, 2006
Artist Statement: Katrina's paintings celebrate the deep connection between abstract and real forms. Each piece begins without agenda, using abstract shapes and patterns, rich in both line and colour. She does not set out to paint specific objects but instead finds them within her abstract work and brings them forward, allowing them to emerge organically with the piece itself dictating its own outcome. Katrina uses many complex layers in her search for the perfect balance between abstract and actual shapes.
Recent Exhibitions, Work AND Education: Mostly self taught, in 1986 I moved to Canada, I got my own studio, downtown Toronto, and I began to shoot fashion and editorial professionally. With a lot of experimentation and passion, I learned to see my subjects from a different angle and interpret my vision in a distinct way.
The last 8 years I fully dedicated my time to fine art photography, my work has been exhibited in Canvas and Cryptic Canvas Galleries in Toronto, and my works held in private and corporate collections.
Artist Statement: I try to create arresting black and white prints, void of people, my images communicate the silence and graciousness found in our surroundings, be it urban or nature.
I welcome viewers to meander through the image; these are quiet places where the only distraction is the viewer's own thoughts, an invite into a captured world where awareness of the place and the visual connection fosters a sense of relating and nostalgia.

Artist Statement: Earth Energies came to fruition in August 2007 when we launched a website to showcase our sterling silver and gemstone jewelry creations. With a keen eye for detail and a love of gemstones and metal we offer a classy piece of affordable jewelry as an alternative to traditional beading. We personally design and create all of our pieces starting with a handful of stones or a sheet of metal. Our Goal is to make our pieces natural and comfortable while adding a bit of funk to keep them fresh and unique.

A Brief Personal History
I am a professional fulltime jeweller, designing and fabricating under Willa Designs since 1997.
I have an Honours Diploma from the Ontario College of Art. I have also attended classes at George Brown College, and I’ve studied Jewellery in Florence Italy for four months. I also did a three and a half year internship in the Metal Studio at Harbourfront Centre.
I have been included in two publications, won numerous awards, and regularly exhibit in juried shows – it’s a large part of how I gain my living. Craft shows allow me direct feed back from the buying public and the shows allow me to grow my client base.
My career has included teaching adult education classes in Toronto and full time college level classes through Aurora College in the NWT, and Nunavut Arctic College in NU. I also worked as a bench hand for over ten years.
Artist Statement: ARTIST STATEMENT April 12, 2010
My Work is simple, bold, balanced and strong. I make mini wearable sculptures.
Space – the negative is just as important as the positive.
Balance – the positive and negative space.
Textures – the rough and the smooth.
The undulating flow of curves.
I create smooth, sexy curvaceous jewellery – a marriage of form and function.
