Artist Statement: Kelly Lamorie started taking pictures in the early 1980s when she acquired an ultra-cool Kodak disc camera. Since then Kelly has upgraded in many ways: She went to film school at Ryerson University, where she was inspired to develop an aesthetic after studying films that were both meditative and poetic. She has had five photo exhibitions, the latest in May 2010, entitled 'Reverse astrology.' Kelly increasingly looks to the natural world as a subject, exploiting natural lighting to reveal the hyper-real, lurking within everyday subjects.

Artist Statement: Kukucaju paintings on wood are friendly, fun and quirky taking inspiration from all things that amuse me; kid’s lit., sock monkeys, small furry mammals, cowpokes and in particular, the curious fascinations of my 2 children, Declan (4) and Lolly (7). My current series of small paintings is based partially on drawings by my daughter Lolly.
As the workday usually starts after kiddies’ bedtime and runs well into the early hours, some pieces have that quirky flavour that can only be brought out after a long day. It is this liberation of one’s senses that fuels the creative furnace and sparks Kukucaju’s originality and humour.

Artist Statement: I create a calm and tranquil atmosphere in my studio. Using classical music as an elixir, I achieve the desired state of minde conducive to creativity. I sketch my composition in pencil, creating undulating shapes and calm romantic human figures which convey warmth, peace, love dignity and tranquility of the human spirit. I do not use live models or otherwise to create my work. This work is not representational, but rather a form of self expression: it is all imagination. Colours, shapes, arrangements of objects help in getting it all together.

Artist Statement: The reason why I paint is not quite clear to me; however, I do know that I have an irresistable desire to paint. I believe in the constant process of development, growth and expansion of myself and what I create as an artist. Painting is a completely spontaneous but rather frustrating evolution for me. I love the coincidences, the accidents, and I always rely on my intuition to guide me during the different stages of a project. Just like life, the pursuit of life is to live with art.

Artist Statement: As a performer I often live and perform in the world of the stage, where words and music are given to me to communicate and share with others around me.
As a visual artist I have learned it can perhaps be even more powerful to communicate without word or sound.
Through bold colour, shape and textures I use my artwork as a powerful vehicle to express and share my stories, my thoughts and my experiences. To communicate and connect without even having to be physically present.
Connections that I need to make and share.
But in this way, without words.

Artist Statement: I have been working on the “Standing” series of paintings over the past four years, placing figures, either alone or in groups, into open and isolated landscapes where they face the unknown and the unexpected. With a strong sense of narrative, these works are designed to trigger the imaginative and empathetic powers of the viewer.
