Artist Statement: Rachel is a graduate of Sheridan College’s Craft and Design Glass Program. Based in Toronto, she is currently a full-time artist in residence in the glass studio at Harbourfront Centre. Her work features both moldblown and functional glass forms, found objects, as well as kilncast glass elements.
Animals have become a central motif in my recent work. I use them to explore themes of nature and its distorted representation. Within this distortion I explore ideas of social norms, awkward moments, mania and neurosis, and perhaps, the continual absurdity and embarrassment of being.

the future. Amy speaks of her work as a proposal, “for collaboration between urban and rural environments.” She’s inspired by her own photography and builds each paintings with “layers of acrylic washes, erratic paint drips, shiny enamel and hard-edge details.” Amy’s urban-landscapes bring nature back into the city to get ideas flowing, encourage environmental initiatives and motivate sustainable communities.

Recent Exhibitions, Work AND Education: Art Fundamentals 1 year Certificate- Sheridan College
BA, Art History (with studio courses)-York University
Having graduated from university last spring, my focus for the past year has been experimenting and searching for a concept and medium to focus on. I feel that the studio courses (painting, drawing, printmaking, design fundamentals and sculpture) I participated in during my formal education provided a good base for my independent explorations into fibre art, my medium of choice.
Artist Statement: I am inspired by the many wonderful forms found in nature, particularly flowers, fungi, and ocean creatures. I try to capture the sculptural and textural beauty of our world in the tactile and expressive medium of fibre, which I love for its ability to produce texture as well as form and colour. I strive for my work to be a pleasure to look at as well as to handle, and in some cases, wear.
Recent Exhibitions, Work AND Education: I am a self-taught painter from a family rich in professional artists working mostly in the south eastern United States.
My work first appeared in a juried exihibition when I was in high school in the 1970's.
After a long hiatus from painting I returned to the easel in 2004.
My work has been exhibited at Visual Arts, Missisauga, including the 2008 juried show at the Mississauga Gallery of Art.
I sell approximately 20 canvases a year.
Artist Statement: I want a painting to be a painting. I love the interplay of colour, light, shadow and texture. I enjoy seeing the ridges of the brushstroke: the movement the artist brought to paint and canvas. A painting of a person or a place does more than record the person or location; the painting celebrates the spontaneous moment of life it captures. I try to keep my brushwork loose enough to capture that feeling of spontaneity.
Recent Exhibitions, Work AND Education: Shows: Queen West Art Crawl, Holi-Dandy, The Balanced Body Show.
Stores: Blue Banana, Red Sable, Le Petit Chapeau, Awkward Stage.
Education: Georgian College Jewellery Diploma, graduated with honours. I have worked since graduation in my studio doing custom work. Within the last two years I have created work for the Barrie and Toronto stores.
Artist Statement: I make one of a kind sterling jewellery with a modern and very wearable approach. Most of my work is cast silver with one-off models but recently I have started fabricating rings, pendants, earrings, and bracelets. This has allowed me to bring my modern organic aesthetic to a newer, slightly more hard line look. Both of these lines represent my desire to create everyday jewellery for the modern woman.

Artist Statement: My work is about landscape, nature, and our environment. I am interested in our lakes, rivers, fens and bogs and the elements in the landscape that we often overlook, such as native trees, shrubs and plants. As a Printmaker, I work on copper, aluminum and zinc plates and print my images on handmade Japanese paper, traditional Western paper, or vintage textiles.
