Artist Statement: Painting abstractly is an inner emotion that unveils through every turn, bend, and heap of colour. The movement through emotion creates a structure of actuality. The effect is one of uncertainty to some or unknown, and to others it creates a sense of relaxation. Whether it is the swoop of a brush or the touch of a pallet knife, colour and creativity are the significant techniques that shine through ones inner feelings. This abstraction of painting can convey an emotion that peaks through the abundant amount of layers, which reminds us of time's persistency's and changes in life.

Artist Statement: This group of paintings is based on the abstract interpretation of horizons (the apparent line that separates earth from sky). My compositions use a conceptual approach rather than representing a more traditional landscape. I am able to take more liberties with the subject matter, using color and geometric patterns to create an imagined world, one that does not present a certain adherence to given subject but one that others can relate to in their own way.

Artist Statement: There is a narrative that has been progressing through my drawings about a wanderer of Elsewheres following in the footsteps of his foredads and foremoms, looking for new discoveries on the frontiers or waiting for the forecast to bring em' his way. On his quest, he discovers thingamajigs that are like something he never seen before. It's a story about having special ideas to call yer own. But it's also about how those ideas transpired and what happens once they get loose.

Artist Statement: I love colour – I surround myself with bright and strong colour because it gives me a feeling of energy and optimism. This energy reminds me of nature; so many of my works incorporate organic lines and spaces. I work to infuse my paintings with the same level of energy that I live my life; working with a palette knife which allows me to mould and drag the paint. I am interested manipulating the surface and layers of paint, building colours and patterns, overlapping bold and complementary colours.

Artist Statement: Working in oils Jamie’s landscapes capture the emotion
and sense of the subject. His paintings are about being
alive and participating. His technique allows the viewer to “see” the wind, to “feel” the sun on a cold clear winter day evoking the viewer’s memories and the energy that brings.
He favours scenes that depict activity and drama.
His strong brush strokes, big colours and large shadows
convey his enjoyment and respect of a specific scene
