Artist Statement: My work focuses on the strange and comfortable relationships in my imagination and in our day to day. I enjoy exploring unexplainable fears for what we don't understand as well as the things we are fascinated and/or disgusted by. The imagery is often slightly off-putting but my often softer colour palette and smooth flowing lines form a calm glaze. My work is meant to embrace the strange and familiar while willing others to do the same.

Artist Statement: As a textile artist, and the maker behind Knotted Nest, I am constantly creating pieces that fuse fine art with functional housewares and accessories. I am inspired by vintage fabrics and finding new and unique uses for previously loved materials. I make a variety of products ranging from table runners and coasters, to embroidered portraits and mixed media artworks. My work is detailed and thoughtful, often employing language and stitched imagery.
Recent Exhibitions, Work AND Education: Jennifer Morris is a Toronto based designer/maker who specializes in one of a kind jewelry and beaded objects. She attended Sheridan College, School of Craft and Design majoring in Textiles then was a resident of the Textile Studio at the Craft Studios at Harbourfront Centre. She is currently concentrating making a living as a full time craft person. If she is not working in her studio you will find her working at Bead Junction (the best bead store in Toronto). You can see her work at “Made You Look”, “Fresh Baked Goods” and in her online stores.
Artist Statement: Who am I? Well I could write a second person Artist Statement with some deep and esoteric discourse about how my work relates to the cosmos. But if you get down to it I do it because I like to make stuff. It’s my constant companion, my passion or some could say my addiction. All my work is a one off I never do it exactly the same again and I don’t want it to there would be no challenge or fun to do it exactly the same. I love the process of making and see what will happen next.

Artist Statement: ‘Beside Herself’ represents the collaborative work of Toronto based artists, Carolyn Self and Alda Escareño.
We are drawn together by a common compulsion to create hand printed multiples. Our work ranges from traditional printed editions to interactive art objects and wearable pieces. Calling upon both printing and crafting traditions, we challenge the handmade form to mimic mass production. In our work, conceptual themes of multiplicity and repetition, inherent in printmaking, interweave themselves with seductive colours, textures, humour and dreamlike imagery.

In these works I have combined my academic background in ecology and my passion for photography to rethink the classical art of botanical diagrams.
Artist Statement: Modern Taxonomy
These works emerge at the intersection of my life’s two great interests: nature and photography. With this project I revisited the 18th century art of botanical diagrams and considered how I could rework this form in a modern context. The works needed to maintain a likeness to the original class of art, be true to their original purpose of providing taxonomic information, and uphold my artistic aesthetic. Giclee prints, plant matter and epoxy resin, mounted on wood panels.
