Artist Statement: My art has always been my spiritual release, a way to explore my own soul and to touch others. I look to the future and to the past alike. My influences are great asters: Botticelli and Titian, Rubens and Rembrandt, Van Gogh and a multitude of others throughout the ages. Repetition is not my forte and my personal style is a fusion of palette knife techniques, impressionistic strokes, and surrealist perspectives. Each stroke differs from the rest, each painting is distinct and with no likeness in existence. Originality is key.

Artist Statement: I started Grace Design in 1998 after my return from India, with a backpack full of sari silk, looking for a unique and creative way to share my experiences from abroad. Since then, I have traveled to many other countries in search of unusual found textiles. This has taken me to some interesting place, from Oaxacan flea markets to second hand stores in Tokyo. I love the thrill of the search and the interesting stories that come from these experiences. Every found piece of fabric has its own history and my work is a continuation of this narrative. I am constantly inspired by the creativity of foreign cultures and love to mix juxtaposing aesthetics. Through this, I hope to inspire a kind of "global style", that which celebrates creativity, individuality and cultural differences.
Grace Design currently consists of a line of handbags, home accessories and clothing made from found pieces of fabric.
Recent Exhibitions, Work AND Education: I have been using fine imported papers (Japanese, Thai and Nepalese) to create abstract and representational images. There is no paint used in my art.
I have participated in solo, group and juried shows for almost twenty years.

Artist Statement: Born in Toronto, Leila spent much of her
childhood creating and designing.
Making jewellery began as a portable
creative outlet during her extended travels in the US, with her first sales from an exciting stint of street vending in NYC. Her current work reflects this adventurousness.
Leila is continually challenging herself
to explore new techniques with a focus on the integrity of design and function of each piece.
