Artist Statement: I’ve adapted and created my own peculiar genus of entomopathogenic fungus.
Provided not merely to delight the curious but to educate and inform in the manner of an exhibit in a natural history museum.
These specimens are based on the “ring” form, to be worn on the hand, which is drawn from the idea of hand gestures. Although hand gestures are often regarded as mimed versions of spoken communication, they can imitate, amplify, substitute, and even contradict speech. Implied hand gesture here reveals a narrative within the pieces and their imagined origin.

Recent Exhibitions, Work AND Education: I am a practicing visual artist whose focus has been drawing for over 20 years. I hold a Diploma from Ontario College of Art (1994) and a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Guelph (1996).
My work has recently been seen in group shows at Propeller Gallery, Lennox Contemporary Arts, The Beverley Owens Project and at the John B. Aird Gallery juried exhibit "Drawing 2010".
I have been a past participant in the Queen West Art Crawl for the last 7 years as well. Currently, I also post drawings on a daily basis to my blog, "The Week in Figure Drawings" (http://thomasdraws.blogspot.com)
Artist Statement: Drawing is the medium that has always most engaged me. What most inspires me as subject matter is the human body, both its surface and its interior.
My current series of work, "Biomandalas", investigate integrating elements of biological and anatomical imagery into structured mandala-like compositions. They are the most current set of images coming from a larger investigation of using fragmentary body imagery to create other structures, through montages of overlaid images, or through unexpected juxtapositions.
All of these appeal to me as ways to convey some of the wonder and fascination I feel in considering these bodies we inhabit.

Artist Statement: My artwork is much like myself; gregarious, filled with good humour, and colour. I am jazzed by living in the most beautiful place on earth - Canada. I am moved by the majesty of trees as they punctuate a summer sunset, or emblazon a hill with with showstopping golds and oranges in the fall, or the tiniest shoots and leaves growing from the forest floor. the sunny disposition of porch side daisies or flowering vines, all speak to me. In a nutshell, I paint joy.
Recent Exhibitions, Work AND Education: I don't live in Toronto but I am heavily involved in Toronto art events and I would love to participate in QWAC 2010.

Artist Statement: My artistic expressions act as a filter for my life. The people I meet, the places I go and the things I see are all incorporated into the ideals of my work. I have a vivid fascination with pop culture and the impact media has on society, both ideas strong in my art. I have a long history with graffiti and public art in my artistic past which tends to bleed itself onto many of my canvases presently.

Artist Statement: Janice Moorhead, a graduate from the University of Ottawa Visual Arts program in 1979, is presently well known across Canada for her glass art.
In 1985, she developed a "layering" technique that allowed her to create the image without the use of the traditional soldered joint. Delicately cut edges of glass interact with the play of light, a light which is never stagnant, but forever in a state of flux, depending on the season or time of day.
The body of work created over the past 25 years can best be described as an extraordinary blend of visual aesthetics and narrative. From the smallest "gift item" to the larger public commission, this glass art has always had the same "reason to be"....and that is...."to bring joy".
