Recent Exhibitions, Work AND Education: Since moving to Toronto last year I have participated in a number of shows around the city. These include the One of a Kind Christmas Show 2009, Interior Design Show 2010 and The Artist Project 2010. In addition to these shows, I was accepted for a residency position in Harbourfront Centre's glass studio starting in July of last year. This year, my work has been featured in Toronto Life Magazine, Home and Decor magazine, as well as CityLine and Breakfast Television on City TV.
Artist Statement: The most important thing for me to remember when I'm coming up with a concept for a new piece or series of new pieces is to keep it simple. Basic. If I complicate things too much I end up confusing myself and, inevitably, the viewer. That’s not what I want for my work. I wouldn't want to exclude anyone from it. Myself especially. Therefore, my subject matter remains very raw and hopefully doesn't leave anyone scratching their heads.

Artist Statement: In my current photography, I focus on the varying landscapes of the world, capturing them as I feel them. I see a level of colourful beauty in naturally occurring landscapes that is beyond all others; the way perfectly exposed golden sunshine outlines an otherwise gray and dusty space in time - the way the earth and sky curve around our lives. Mine are big, bold, beautiful photographs of these flowing land and skyscapes.

Recent Exhibitions, Work AND Education: I began my career in jewellery design in 2006 in Melbourne Australia where I apprenticed under Janet Marnell-Brown, a talented goldsmith and an invaluable teacher. She nurtured my talent and showed me the confidence to pursue my passion for working with metal. When I returned to Canada in 2008, I took a series of silversmith courses at the Organic Metal gallery under the direction of Robin Gray, the owner and operator. This is where I fine tuned my skills and where I continue to do my work in Toronto. In 2009 I created my first collection of sterling silver jewellery and showcased it as part of a group exhibition, "The Swoon Show", at the Organic Metal Gallery. I later took part in Craft Off the Lot in 2009, an exhibition of independent artisans.
I now sell my work at Made You Look, The Organic Metal Gallery, The Black Lotus Boutique and Model Citizen, all located in Toronto.
Artist Statement: i create handmade sterling silver jewellery designs that are unique and fierce, but wearable for everyday to add that edge your style craves. I'm passionate about what I do and I believe that comes out in my work. I find deep satisfaction from working with my hands. I love to explore my creativity in a medium that just makes sense to me. I love metal, I love the way it feels in my hand, the way it resists my saw blade and the way it shines when worked into a high polish. It is both delicate and tough, resistant and malleable. I love the duality of it and I try to get that idea across in my work with edgy yet delicate pieces of jewellery. (Gold pieces are available upon request.)

Recent Exhibitions, Work AND Education: My recent exhibitions include the 2009 TOAE, "Big News" at Influx gallery in Calgary and the 2009 QWAC. At these exhibitions I had a chance to introduce my newest collection of Soundwave Jewellery. My grant awarded from The Ontario Arts Council allowed me to develop this unique idea where the sound wave from a personalized recording is transferred onto a piece of jewellery. Most recently “Soundwave Ring” was chosen as a Niche Award Finalist 2010.
Artist Statement: Danielle Crampsie uses jewellery as a social indicator to record history and convey ideas relevant to today’s society. Her work explores the symbols and values of contemporary culture in order to communicate tradition, promote unity and give individuals a way of expressing their identity. By examining these cultural indicators, defining who relates to them and determining why we can use jewellery to form a new visual language, cross cultural boundaries and define an era.
