Artist Statement: “My artwork is not a process of visual translation but rather a process that forces me to give up preconceived ideas. Before I begin painting, I look at each piece of wood as a piece with an untold story. The wear and tear of the wood, the found stains, or even the gouges and knots have a history of its own. Its then I realize, those details start to guide me as I begin to create. The result, is a painting that has not only been influenced by the wood itself but also from my own experiences and stories throughout the process. But the most interesting part for me, is knowing that what I have created might find itself passed on to someone else, becoming part of another unfolding story.“
Recent Exhibitions, Work AND Education: The inspiration for my collection comes from me living and working in Japan. The scenes depicted on each piece of art represents my impression of the various places I visited within Japan.
Artist Statement: My work reflects the architecture that surrounds us and hence the history in structure from which we have evolved.I portray these structures in watercolour and ink.
